Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District has a lot more registered Republicans than Democrats, and the district voted for President Trump by a wide margin four years ago. Usually, this would point to a probable Republican win, but Democrat Collin Peterson has represented MN-7 for 30 years and, despite President Trump winning the district by a wide margin, Peterson beat his Republican House opponent in 2016. With Trump on the ballot four years ago, Peterson had his closest race in decades and followed that up in 2018 with an even smaller margin of victory. This seat is trending towards Republicans, and its rating as a “Toss Up” reflects that.
